“I’ve never been to a meeting where women…

 One mother/grandmother that attended our Saving Summit last Saturday said,

" In all my 52 years I have never gone to a meeting where women were wanting to learn to save money."

We all know women are famous for wasting money and being shopaholics, spending hours and hours and often  whole days shopping!

Proverbs 31 talks about how a virtuous wife will do her husband good and not evil all the days of her life. Part of that is the responsibility of managing household affairs to the best of our abilities!

As I looked at those in attendance I was so encouraged to be among women and girls that take managing their home seriously. They were eager to glean ideas from each other about ways to make the most of every dollar. Not only did we discus ways to trim the budget, we discussed ways to manage our time wisely and ways to add to the household income while still being stay at home mothers and daughters.

Our panel of experts although none of us would call ourselves one:

Robin White, Kelly Crawford, Jane Boyd, Sherry Lee, and myself; Kathy Brodock.

~~~
I started the Savings Summit by sharing some ways to save money using the internet, using some of the best money saving sites. I explained how we save money by planning for our pantry and the importance of planning ahead. I also share about ways to make money online and how a blog can help you do that!
Kelly Crawford (sorry we did not get a picture of her speaking) , a stay-at-home mother of 8 WONDERFUL children, then shared more about ways to use the internet to increase your family’s income. Kelly also shared how you can educate your children at home and spend very little money!
Kelly is the author of Think Outside the ClassroomFinding Fincial Freedom, Back to Scratch; Saving Money in the Kitchen, Easy Homemade GiftsMake and Sell Your Own Skin Products and Getting Your Children to Obey.
 Sherry Lee is the stay-at-home mother of 13 of  the most kind-hearted, respectful, well mannered  children you will ever meet. Sherry is a wealth of information and she inspired all of us! She has cut their power bill down to $65 a month…can you believe that?! Sherry does not have a website or blog right now, but we were really encouraging her to get one!
Sherry mainly shared with us ways to cut back on utilities and most everyone was taking notes!!!
 Jane Boyd, the stay-at-home mother of 9 very well mannered  and servant minded children you’ll ever meet,  shared more about cutting utilities and ways to cook more efficiently. She and her daughters have done a lot of experimenting and I am amazed at what they have figured out. Their ideas show just how wasteful we are. One more thing about the Boyd family, they always have a smile on their face!!!
 Robin White,  is the stay-at-home mother of 6 of my favorite children, including one adopted from Liberia! Robin has one of the most out going personalities and is always looking for adventure. She shared with us ways to go on vacation while spending less and still have fun! Robin is a huge yard sale enthusiast, and will not pay full price for anything! If you want to get excited about saving money, just talk to Robin! She is also a wealth of information about adoption!
We shared lunch together then we got down to the topic of bartering! I love bartering!!! I shared some guidelines then we all announced what we had to barter for. This will be an ongoing part of our Summit!
Olivia brought our beans to snap while she listened, but some of the other girls got busy with them. Thank you girls, especially Ana!
Being a wife/mother and managing our household affairs  efficiently is a full time job. You may be able to go buy your beans at a store for less work, but you WILL pay for them one way or another. Why not be working and working hard at home, building your character and the character of your children as you tackle everyday task.? It was exciting to see so many young girls at the Summit. They will be incredible wives one day and they will be able to manage the household affairs so efficiently. They are being taught to remember the old paths of life, the path of hard work and good character, along with the rewards that come with it.
My only regret about the Savings Summit is that we did not record any audio with it. In an age that people are consumed with ease and entertainment, this audio would have been a blessing to those that are looking for a content lifestyle.
