Advice for Parents of Prodigals

Wayward children are more common than we may want to admit.  Parents of prodigals usually struggle with how to respond as they see their much loved child venture off the straight and narrow path. The desperation that a Christian parent feels can cause them to either, and often go to  both extremes  of over reacting or ignoring the situation.

In his article, Let Them Come Home,  Abraham Piper gives some good advice for parents who want to encourage their children to return to Jesus.

My parents, who are strong believers and who raised their kids as well as any parents I’ve ever seen, were brokenhearted and baffled.   I’m sure they were wondering why the child they tried to raise right was such a ridiculous screw-up now. But God was in control.
