Work Builds Character

It is our responsibility as parents to equip our children not only academically, but also with practical skills.  A complete education must consist of a good work ethic. Not only should should one know how to work  but they should want to work!

Men should be able to maintain their home and vehicles. Sometimes it is more efficient to pay someone else to do these tasks, but there may come a time when the man will ‘have’ to do it. It is also good to have a basic knowledge of how things are done so that one will know if the job has been done correctly and what is a fair wage. Having the skills and being able to do a job is a responsibility that should be embraced, not avoided.

It does not matter if a woman is single or married, no children or a house full of children; she is to be busy working with her hands, caring for her family and community from her home. Simply learning new skills can add to the economy of her home without ever earning a paycheck. There are so many skills that an efficient woman needs to know.

Whether you are a man or woman, learning practical skills takes determination and self-discipline, but most of all it takes a desire to want to learn and learn with the purpose of knowing that you can become more self-reliant and use these skills to serve others.

No one will do all things perfectly, but we can learn a wide range of skills and find what we can excel at and use that to meet the needs of others. By no means will this be an exhaustive resource of skills, but it is a start. We are open to new ideas and products.
