Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

A Double Batch of Morning Goodness

This morning I thew together some muffins for breakfast, I made a double batch so the kids would have something to snack on, and hopefully some for tomorrow’s breakfast.

I used a basic muffin recipe and adjusted it a little, substituting half wholewheat and adding some carrot scraps from our juicing.  Once you make something a few times you get a feel for what looks and and feels right, so it is easy to improvise on a recipe.

I sit at my table, I look at the faces, I hear and see the goodness around me and I ask myself shall I dare ask for more? More responsibility? More work? More sweet reward?

Yes, fill my cup Lord. Keep me busy about Your work, keeping home and hearts.  Please never allow me grow complacent, nor greedy.

My man is a hard working man! He’s put in a lot of labor intensive work this week, about 60 hours in this Alabama heat and humidity.  This morning he had a few hours before he had to leave. We gathered around the table to eat our muffins hot form the oven with some honey butter melted in the middle of them. We usually do our Bible reading in the evening, but today we did it this morning. It was one of those sweet, sweet moments I want to always remember…I’m glad my camera was close by.

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17
