2011 Personal Goals
December 27, 2010
“O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days;
let me know how fleeting I am!
Psalm 39:4
This week will consist of tying up a few loose ends, putting away the Christmas decorations, another de-clutter of the house and an attempt to regain order to the house.
I’ll also get my goals for this next year written down and map out a strategy to accomplish them…a very hard thing for impulsive people like me! Well, actually I am good at making lists and plans, but not so good at finishing them.
/
These are my personal goals (so far):
Seek to hate my own sin!
Learn not to be easily offended.
Grow in Wisdom-
- Pray more
- Study more
- Listen more
- SPEAK LESS
Ways to accomplish this:
- Do not turn the computer on until I have read and prayed.
- Load and listen to more books/lectures/sermons using my mp3 player.
- Read through the whole Bible this year.
- Place more books in readable places, all end tables, night stands, bathroom, in the van…
- When asked to give my opinion about something, pause and think if I should really answer.
Write More Letters, 4-5 a month.
- Have cards, stationary, stamps, pens, calendar, addresses in one place.
Family History
- Get all the pictures and journaling into scrapbooks/photo books for the kids. If God chooses to take me home this year I want a good family record left for them. This is actually my January and February goal before it warms up outside.
- Make sure I have copies of family trees for each child.
Spend Less, Save More
- Plan better for meals, use Mondays for bookkeeping (business and personal), clip coupons/internet deal sites.
- Do not over commit to activities outside the home.
- Shop only once a week!
Tie Heart Strings
- Spend more time romancing my husband.
- Take each child out for a meal, one on one, for some good conversation once or twice a month.
- Find ways to help my children grow in skills (business and practical).
Be Alert to Needs
- Flexibility is so important.
Skills to Learn/Improve On:
- Knit
- Bread Making
- Handwriting
- Computer
- Photography
Loose Weight/Get Strong
- Continue going to the gym 4-5 times a week.
- Juice
- Limit sugars and pasta/bread for special occasions.
Grow Teaching Good Things
- More DVDs
- Tutorials
- Classes
- Speaking
Have you set your goals?

Thanks for sharing your list with us, Kathy, especially the “heartstrings” category. Besides our personal growth in the Lord, nurturing our family relationships has got to be at the top of our resolution/to-do lists for the coming year.
Blessings to you and yours, and thanks for the encouragement you share through “Teaching Good Things!” May the Lord be pleased to grow your business!
Thank you Lisa!
I’m always looking for ways to tie heartstrings.
Thank you for the “show me how.”
