Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

2010 Bailey Barn Dance and Unsocialized Homeschool Kids!

I’ll try not to get off on a rant how so many people still use the, ‘but kids need to be socialized’ argument against homeschooling. Whenever someone brings that up with me I know they don’t have a clue!

Our VERY gracious friends, the Baileys, do an annual barn dance, and each year it grows (link to the 2009 dance).

The crowd is mostly Christian homeschool families.

This year they welcomed over 400 people to their farm!

They came to eat,

to fellowship,

to enjoy the live music,

and of course do-sa-do!

And then there was the Pie Judging, which Jeff and I were able to take part in!

Details about that later! ;o)

Thank you Bailey Family for all your hard work in making this event possible.

Friday we are attending a Reformation Celebration and next month our family is hosting a Southern Ball. :o )

You homeschoolers really ought to get out more and be around people!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17
